Woodrow Wilson Environmental Science Summer Institute for Teachers

July 2000

At the beginning of the institute, we spent an entire day walking along an assigned section of the Beden’s Brook in the Stony-Brook Millstone Watershed. The assigned section is known as a "beat". We walked beat 4. On the day we were there, our tests showed a pretty healthy section of the brook.

I have been teaching middle school science in Vermillion, South Dakota for ten years. I have enjoyed many opportunities to learn and meet fellow teachers in summer programs like this.
