Teaching assignment
My assignment varies from year to year but gneerally I will teach a general biology course, and advanced biology course with an emphasis on biotechnology, and an Advanced Placement Environmental Science course. At the site I currently teach, my schedule depends yearly on our needs and staffing. I also have taught advanced chemistry, advanced placement chemistry, advanced placement biology, a physical science course and help as a lab assistant for a local community college biotechnology course.
Favorite Courses:
Obviously, APES has got my attention now although I would like to do more work on developing the biology course with a biotech emphasis. I enjoy teaching physical science (our non-college prep physical science course) because there is no set curriculum and you can do whatever seems to be of interest to the students.
Particular Interests:
I enjoy playing soccer (instant gratification and socially acceptable violence). Unfortunately due to a lack of time and access to certain resources, I have mothballed winemaking, fly fishing and backpacking, but I hope to eventually get back into them. I also spend an excessive amount of time on a computer looking for ways to integrate computer technology into a meaningful learning expereince for students.I also enjoy cooking, reading and gardening (but I hate mowing lawns).
