Other Research Attempted
We attempted to measure the transport of colloids through a column packed with sand. We planned to measure the colloids using a spectrophotometer over a day. We noticed from the data collected that air had gotten into one of our columns and we were not able to use the cover on the spectrophotometer cuvette. It was not taking an accurate reading due to unblocked light passing through the sides of the uncovered cuvette. For these two reasons we decided to focus on our chromium experiment. Our mentor Dr. Derick Brown did his thesis and post-doctoral work on this topic and has plenty of research information if you are interested. You can contact him at dbrown@princeton.edu.
