  1. Design an inquiry-based, workable controlled experiment
The experiment is executed successfully and has an appropriate control and experimental groups. The experiment is partially completed and may have some confounding factors among experimental groups. The experiment is not completed and may have incomplete data or design problems that interfere with appropriate controls.
  • Gain a better understanding of how forest regeneration is affected by invasive, exotic species
Our presentation and project enhance our understanding of the effect of stargrass on forest regeneration. Our presentation and project helps somewhat to clarify our understanding of the effect of stargrass on forest regeneration. Our presentation and project were unclear in demonstrating an understanding of the effect of stargrass on forest regeneration.
  • Develop inquiry-based activities and field methods that can be utilized and applied in our local regions
Our project results in a lesson plan that can be applied to all regions. Our project results in a lesson plan that can be adapted to most regions. Our project results in a lesson plan that can only be used in Costa Rica.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively communicate to successfully complete lab report
All group members collaborate in all aspects of the project and divide labor efficiently. Lapses in communication result in a non-cohesive presentation and/or report. Leads Katie directly into wasps’ nest!
