Biographical Information

I was born in the Garden State of NJ where my extended family still lives today.   Following the eighth grade I happily moved with my family to the beautiful State of North Carolina.  I attended High School in Charlotte at the then brand new Providence Senior High School.   Active in both art and science oriented activities, I volunteered at the Discovery Place Science Museum as a sci-teen and took community college classes in art and photography.

Biology and Spanish were the focus of my attention while I earned my degree at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill.  Six months were spent in Ecuador with the School of International Training studying comparative ecology while visiting its diverse regions.

My first year as a graduate was spent in Raleigh, NC where I lived working at Blue Jay Point County Park developing and implementing nature programs.  I also worked at Great Outdoor Provision Company part time.

After teaching two years, one year public and one year private, I am teaching all science areas at Hobgood Academy.  Graduate classes in the evening are helping me work towards my masters in Science Education at ECU.

My summers have been spent at first as a TOSA participant, surveying reptile and amphibian populations of Cool Springs Environmental Education Center and recently as a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship Foundation Participant in Costa Rica.
