High School Biology and Environment Science Teacher
School
Information I
am a teacher at an alternative high school named Satellite Academy. Satellite is located
on
the Lower East Side of Manhattan. I
have been teaching there for four years.
About
200
students attend the school and they have chosen our school because they did not
feel
larger
traditional high schools were servicing them.
We offer a smaller setting and we are
more
involved in the lives of our students.
We have been moving away from “high stake”
testing
as a graduation requirement, instead we use Performance Based Projects as a
requirement
for graduation. It truly is a great
place for both teachers and for students.

I was born and raised in Uniondale, New York. I working on my Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Hofstra University. I did my undergraduate study at Hofstra as well. I have three brothers and no sisters. There are many things that I want accomplish in my lifetime. One of them is to cause a positive change in this world. That is why I got in to teaching. I am and will probably always try to balance my life. It is the idea of living for the moment , while still preparing for the future. I feel that this little story sums it up best…
