At the start of this
adventure, I had just completed my first of teaching. I was very fortunate to have wonderful students that allowed me
to grow as a person, as well as a teacher.
I can honestly say that I have learned as much from them as I like to
believe they learned from me.
I am originally from north Georgia, but my family moved to south Mississippi before my senior year in high school – I graduated from the high school in which I now teach. I attended Pearl River Community College and later the University of Southern Mississippi. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in December of 1998; I had the opportunity to immediately start graduate school with an assistantship through the Center for Science and Mathematics at USM. I will hopefully complete my Master’s degree by August 2001, in Science Education with focus on Biology. I have been incredibly gifted with numerous opportunities that allow me to learn more about myself as an individual, as well as a teacher. The more I learn the more difficult it becomes to differentiate between the teacher, the scientist, and the person.
Now that I have covered
educational information, I will give some brief info about my family. I am the youngest, and only daughter of a
family of five. My parents were
incredibly supportive in any decision that I made, because my brothers and I
were taught that in order to learn you have to make mistakes – and they
couldn’t protect us from the world.
Currently, I am single and am not in a hurry to make any major changes
in my life. God grants you amazing
gifts that must be appreciated – and right now, my gifts are the students that
I interact with every day.
