Title: Action Research
Name: John Rudisill
E-Mail: jrudy@netins.net
Key words: research, innovation, assessment
The action research model provides a structured plan for investigating
a question (hypothesis) using
the scientific method as a model. The "action" depicts a active involvement
in the process of investigating the
question and this becomes research when the plan is structured and
the results are available for critiquing.
The six steps are:
(1) Identify a problem or concern to be investigated
(2) Develop a plan of action that will attempt to find answers to questions
raised.
(3) Proceed with the action research plan individually or with colleagues.
(4) Reflectively evaluate the results through a fact finding process.
(5) Identify new questions that arise leading to a modification of
the initial plan resulting in further investigation.
(6) Make results of research available for critique and analysis.
