The Bayer/NSF Award for Community Innovation is a competition that
encourages youth to recognize everyday problems in their community and to
apply science and technology to create meaningful solutions. The program
provides opportunities for teams of middle school-aged youth from all
walks of life to compete for regional and national recognition and to
participate in activities that enrich creative problem solving and
citizenship skills.
The United States has been divided into 10 geographic regions for the
purpose of the competition. The regions are designed to create an
approximate parity based on the population of middle-school students.
The competition has designated one regional coordinator for each region.
