ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENON AND AIR TEMPERATURE                   by Denise Peterson

                                                INVESTIGATION  D:  EXPANDING AIR
 

OBJECTIVE:  The students will demonstrate that air flows from a region of high pressure to a region
of low pressure (pressure gradients).
 

MATERIALS:  plastic bottle
                          balloon
 

PROCEDURE:  1.  Push most of the balloon into the bottle.
                           2.  Squeeze the bottle and gently stretch the neck of the balloon over the mouth
                           of the bottle.
                           3.  Release the sides of the bottle.
                           4.  Observe.
