ESI98P Curriculum
The curriculum for our four week Environmental Science institute will focus on Global Climate
Change. The following content areas will be emphasized:
- An overview of climate change processes focussing on atmospheric dynamics.
- Definition of important terms and parameters
- Mechanisms of global warming
- Data sources and analysis to predict climate change
- Climate modeling.
- Human impacts of climate change
- Interrelationship of major large-scale atmospheric problems -- global warming, acid rain and stratospheric ozone depletion.
- Incentives for environmental degradation
- Alternatives available to reduce greenhouse gas generation
- Tools useful in developing computer education modules for Web access
- Teaching techniques useful for science instruction
