Greetings Follow Environmental Travelors,

Here on the Dynamic Coast we have had and continue to have a most
entertaining winter. On other fronts we are also seeing dynamic
change.

ATTENTION California Teachers and all Teachers of Science

California is developing Science Standards that will impact what will be
taught K-12 in the coming millenium. I encourage all of you that are
interested to go to the web site, www.ca.gov/goldstandards, and read the
sections that you are most familiar with and respond. The Commission's
date for response is April 20th, so please review it quickly. We have
already had the creationism issue come up at the March 17th meeting and
it was resoundingly voted out, but as you know that this is a political
process more than an education effort it may resurface so watch the
website.

CSTA is monitoring the proceedings of the Commission and I will inform
you of any new developments.
[if you are a CSTA member remember to vote and send in your ballot]

I hope the school year is coming to a close with some calm and I am
looking forward to you sharing your success and not in our internet
forum this summer.

NOTE: To Paul and Mary - Where on the website can we have a forum for
the discussion of this year's progress either with TORCHes or other
activities?

Last note to CA Teachers - The door is not to late for you to present at
the CSTA conference in San Jose in October. E-mail me and i can set up
the formate for you.

Have a great summer! Joe Mahood
