We have just put our science mentor day for the Junior Academy of Science
up on the web.
http://www.wsc.edu/academic/mathsci/jracadmy.htm
Over 100 workshops for students and teachers from all different
applications and careers in math and science. All area teachers are
invited to attend with no cost to teachers. All students have a small
registration fee. Over 100 volunteers will do 100 minute workshops in
areas that they feel will promote science and math. I started this
workshop just for my own students but it has grown a little.....
We now have volunteers coming from three states and have Presidential
Award winners in both Math and Science putting on workshops. We also have
Doctors, Vets, and Research Scientists from many areas doing projects with
students using simple to sophisticated material to do research.
We are promoting teachers to do research with students using some of these
topics as possible question areas. The Junior Academy sends it's student
research winners to attend the AAAS meetings, this year in Philadelphia.
