Introduction:
Ozone has become an increasingly popular
topic of study. Comparisons are currently being done between stratospheric
and tropospheric ozone, as well as the many possible health effects of
tropospheric ozone. This study is a variation on these topics because
it will allow schools K-12, as well as any and all on the web, to access
and analyze the data as it relates to atmospheric conditions. This
project is intended to research the possible correlation's between atmospheric
conditions and tropospheric ozone. Is there such a correlation?
Students will be able to design their own research projects and analyze
data collected by all participants throughout the country. Students
may choose to research a possible correlation between temperature and ozone,
barometric pressure and ozone, or possibly even on a smaller scale, cloud
cover and TOL, etc., using the data and graphs within the TOL module.
Through analysis of the data, in conjunction with the study of their own
demographics students will achieve a better understanding of the human
impact on tropospheric ozone levels. What does an ozone alert day
mean? What are the responsibilities connected to such?
