The following timeline is a listing of events deemed important and/or interesting in the eyes of the authors.  Local events occurred in Princeton (the Borough, Township, or University).  The global events also show special connections between Princeton, California, and Nebraska.

1684 Newton publishes theories of motion and gravitation.
1696 Town of "Princeton" settled. 
1724 Borough of Princeton named.
1752 Benjamin Franklin experiments with kite and lightening rod.
1753 College of New Jersey decides to move to Princeton.
1754 French and Indian war begins.
1771 James Madison graduates from Princeton University
1776 John Witherspoon, college president &      
Richard Stockton, physician,      
sign the Declaration of Independence.
1783 Continental Congress meets in Nassau Hall which serves as the capitol of the United States from June - November.
1813 Borough of Princeton Incorporated.
1838 Princeton Township formed with the creation of Mercer County.
1840's The Platte River Valley (Nebraska) becomes the highway for millions of settlers moving west.
1847 Commoder Robert Stockton, son of Dr. Richard Stockton, founded Stockton, California -- home of Dick Filson & Carol Zucca.
1850 California enters the statehood.
1859 First aerial photographer, Gaspard Felix Tournachon (French).  Took pictures from hot air balloons.
1867 Nebraska enters the statehood.
1878 Sidewalks paved in center of town.
1879 Woodrow Wilson graduates from Princeton University.

Development of the automobile.
1896 College name changed to Princeton University.
1898 Madame Curie discovers radium & United States annexes Hawaii.
1903 The Bavarian Pigeon Corps is founded.  Lightweight cameras are attached to pigeons to obtain aerial photographs.
1906 Carnegie lake created by Andrew Carnegie. San Francisco earthquake.
1908 First aerial photography from an aircraft.  Wilbur Wright's passenger, L. P. Bonvillain, took photographs on a demonstration flight in France.
1909 Adm. Perry reaches the North Pole.
1912 Titanic sinks.
1919 Pete's house is built.
1921 Pete Sannino born at 16 Oakland St.  A part of Princeton called "Little Italy."
1933 Albert Einstein becomes a life member of the Institute for Advanced Study with an office on the Princeton campus.
1962 Remotely sensed imagery from satellites proved Cuba did indeed have nuclear missiles (Cuban missile crisis).
1969 Princeton University accepts its first female students. Images from Apollo 9's multi-spectral 4-lens camera were digitized and used to develop techniques for processing Landsat data (which is still 4 years away).
1972 ERST-1 launched.  (Earth Resources Technology Satellite)
1987 Ed Brogie, Nebraska, attends WW Chemistry Institute.
1995 Dick Filson, California, attends WW Biology Institute.
1996 Princeton University celebrates its 250 year anniversary.
1997 May, NSF approves 5 year environmental science grant to WWFNTLP Dick Filson & Carol Zucca, California, attend WW Environmental Science Institute.
1997 July, Woodrow Wilson Foundation publishes first ever institute module live on the Web. Ed Brogie & Lee Peterson, Nebraska, attend WW Environmental Science Institute.
