Conclusions
Most of the undeveloped space in Santa Clara County is important for preservation of watersheds and reservoirs or has been designated as permanent open space.
There exist few remaining areas suitable for development. Of those, some are in agriculture, some are currently being developed and most of the remainder is in the developmental planning stages to become high tech industrial space.
Fortunately, the mountainous terrain coupled with the realization of the importance of open space has resulted in less development than would be maximally possible.
