Importance of Good Cartography
Electronic technology has provided the general user or educator the means to create numerous maps quickly and efficiently. However, because maps are such powerful visual tools, the ArcView user should incorporate good cartographic principles in order to correctly convey intended information on the map or maps produced. A poorly thought-out and designed map will be misleading at best, and just plain wrong at worst.
