One of the strengths of the flexibility of GIS is that it is relatively easy to develop exercises (lessons) that can be tailored to the educational needs of a variety of grade levels, simply by changing the views presented in the exercises. Likewise, it is possible to change the learning outcomes for a particular level by changing the focus of the GIS.
