An Open Invitation to K-12 Teachers of Science
Registration Begins April 1
Project Begins April 12
The Milken Family Foundation (MFF) in collaboration with the National
Science Teachers Association (NSTA) and the National Association of
Researchers in Science Teaching (NARST) invite you to participate in the
Teacher-Researcher Conversations on Science Education and Technology
(TRC-SET).
Towards providing practical insights into the integration of technology
into inquiry-based science, we are creating a national, online workshop
where teachers and researchers engage in substantive conversations about
teaching, learning, science, and technology.
To Register:
1. Go to http://www.mevw.org
2. Click register for project link
3. Fill out individual information
4. Select the project titled: Teacher Researcher Conversations:
Science & Technology
Activities include:
Discussing the nature of project/inquiry-based science and the role of
technology within that teaching and learning context.
Sensing the World: The research and use of probeware and digital cameras
in inquiry-based science.
Data visualization and system modeling tools: Curriculum materials and
tools for seeing science.
Inquiry learning and the Internet: Collaborative inquiry tools for
developing communities of science learners.
Additional Activities
Discuss research, practice, and curriculum through using chat, bulletin
board, and collaborative document technologies.
Read and research what the most current thinking is about project based
learning and inquiry science and integrating innovative technologies
using Dr. Soloway=92s and Norris=92s Convergent Analysis database.
Take away and try out a new instructional practice from the specific,
concrete and detailed curriculum materials for using probes, digital
cameras, modeling tools, simulations, collaborative inquiry tools, etc.
that you can download from the MEVW.
You can contact us before April 1st at:
Cathie Norris: norris@tac.coe.unt.edu
Elliot Soloway: soloway@umich.edu
