Dear President Weisbuch,

Now that I have returned home and have gotten a couple of things done,
I wanted to send you a note telling you and my other Fellows about
what a great experience I had at Rutgers. As I talk about my
experiences with colleagues here, I am pleased with what I have
learned and am able to share with others that they can use in their
classrooms this year. It will be a great year for me, as well,
because of what I have gained from presentations by mentors and
teachers, field trips to the beach and pine forests, and the group
work with Anna Matteoda.

The mentors were a particularly strong asset, providing us with
information and opportunities, modeling the science that they love,
and giving of time and support. One (Marie) has even volunteered to
come to my classroom here in Atlanta & I didn't even work with her
during the month (she has cousins in the area).

You should also be aware of what an asset you have in John Sacco. He
worked hard to provide us with the best technological access, teaching
us aspects of web page composing that even those experts among us
didn't know. He was an excellent problem solver, hearing of the need
and responding quickly. Also, and perhaps more importantly, he alone
understood the needs and drives of teachers, having a great
sensitivity for what we could and would accomplish in a short month.
He put in extremely long days & nites, even going to a local fellow's
home, to help him configure his computer
for the tasks we were to do. He taught several fellows a great deal
about web composing and technology that evening. And beyond all this,
he had the most positive, creative attitude of anyone. He is to be
highly praised.

Thank you for this great experience. I will be telling others of this
opportunity and hope it will continue to improve.

Thanks,
George W. Stickel, Ph.D
