Items to bring

Greetings!

Here are some last minute suggestions and ideas. Please refer to the
packets mailed to you earlier for a complete list of suggestions.

Bring a water bottle for walking in the July heat.

Don't forget to bring a *photo* ID for access to the Firestone Library.

Field trips will take you into the types of places where ticks that
transmit Lyme disease hang out. Please bring and wear light-colored (to
make it easier to spot ticks), long sleeved shirts and full-length pants
and socks (tuck pants into socks). Bring insect repellent labeled for
ticks (although WWLPT staff tell me it doesn't really work on these New
Jersey guys).

Don't forget to bring your local standards, or curriculum frameworks, or
textbook (whichever you have) so you can map that content onto/with a set
of national standards. (This mapping will be an ongoing activity of the
institute. Just deciding which national standards will be a task.)

In previous mailings we mentioned sharing a student activity with your
colleagues. There won't be time for formal presentations, but you might
want to bring 20-30 copies for informal sessions. It's up to you. You can
share via the web during the institute and afterwards.

Bring two blank notebook journals, pencils, pens, a small calculator, and
measuring tape.

See you soon!

Mary
