Hi to all of you!
Team 35 hails from Baton Rouge, La. and consists of three high school
teachers, Melissa Weimer, Chemistry; Helen Simmons, Biology; and
Arronza Major, Environmental Science and Biology. We look forward to
seeing all of you in Princeton.

We have chosen as our topic " Ecosystem Effects of Coastal Erosion in
Louisiana's Barrier Islands". We hope to use the AAG modules: Land
Use... and Biogeography as well as do comparative studies with Island
Beach State Park to faciliate our research. Using the AAG modules as
well as STELLA modelling and local university resources we will look at
causes along with effects of coastal erosion(including but not limited
to economy, habitat loss and water and soil quality) and involve
students in fieldwork, data collecting and community service as part of
our active learning approach to problem solving. Mentorship with area
researchers will also be a focal point of the year long study of the
barrier islands.

We would appreciate feedback on any special equipment that might be
needed in our studies.
