Hi Everyone,
=0D
Team # 25, Nancy Vawter and Annie Wells would like to work on the Nitrate=

Loading of Stream Waters. We are basically an agraian state with lots of=

different crops. We have =

many rivers and streams....one in particular which is polluted. The Caha=
ba
river which flows through the B'Ham, Montgomery area is of great interest=
to
us and to our state. We already have water-watch teams of teachers and
students studying various parts of this river and our research could be o=
f
great benefit to our state as well as to Princeton.
=0D
Many of our rivers and streams have varing degrees of pollution caused fr=
om
industry, pasture and grazing, erosion, poultry farming, etc. The proble=
ms
discussed for Princeton areas seem to be much the same as we have
here.......watersheds draining crop land versus suburban developments. =

=0D
We would like to invite the B'Ham teachers to work with us and any of you=

folks who have the same or similar problems.
=0D
We are fortunate to have access to very sophisticated instrumentation for=

testing to include a portable spec, ph meter, and conductivity meter whic=
h we
would be happy to bring and share. We have two of the HACH portable adva=
nced
aquaculture kits which we can bring. All or most of our high school teac=
hers
have access to this instrumentation through a program we have in the stat=
e
called Alabama Science In Motion. We would be happy to write and researc=
h on
this scale as well as help develop any type of curricula or information w=
hich
other states who do not have this instrumentation could use.
We look forward to working with "all ya'll". We can also teach you to sp=
eak
'southern' and would love to share our southern hospitality with you. Cio=
u,
Nancy
