This project is a field study that involves the use of probes and other field testing equipment. The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) specify that field studies will be a part of all science classes. In addition, the collection and analysis of relevant data is recommended by the National Science Standards. Real world application and awareness of science careers are other target areas where this project aligns with the TEKS and The NSS.
