1) Go to the File menu.
Go to New, and then select Blank Page from Wizard
2) Click the Start button in the top right hand frame.
3) You set up your page by following the directions
in the left hand part of the screen. Data to be entered is put in the bottom
frame, and the end result (shown immediately) is in the right hand frame.
To walk you throughÖ.
1) Click on the give yourself a title link.
2) You will be asked at the bottom to fill in a box. Name your page whatever you want. Once you have decided and typed it into the box, click Apply
3) Now go back to the instruction box. Click on type an introduction. This is a way of introducing yourself to the audience reading the page. Again, type your info/story into the box. When done, click the Apply button.
4) Continue down in the directions to add some Hot LinksÖ. This is your chance to have other people share interesting pages that you found while "surfing the web". Choose a symbolic name for your link (suggestion: the title of the web page you are linking to?) and type it into the Name field. In the URL field, type "http://" (without quotes) and then the address of the page you want the user to jump to. Addresses usually look like "www.mypage.com", where www.mypage.com is just an example.
Note: Whenever you make a link, it MUST have http:// BEFORE the address.
Once done hit Apply and your link will appear. You may continue adding links, or wait until later to add them.
5) Click on the type a paragraph... link. You will now have a chance to say some final words, similar to the introduction. Once done, hit Apply.
6) It's a good idea to have your email address
on the page so that people can contact you. Click on add an email
link. In the box that appears, type in your email address (if
you do not have one, or do not know it, you can skip this step).
If you do fill in the box, hit Apply when done. Email addresses
look like "myname@yahoo.com", where myname@yahoo.com is an example.
You have now entered all of the basic text, and are ready to add the finishing touches....
7) You have three choices in order to change link, text, and background colors:
8) You may also choose the bullet style (those little circles next to the Hot Links). If you change the bullet style, it is applied to all bullets on your page. You change the style by clicking on the respective picture in the bottom window.Click on the respective link to use either the pre set or the custom colors. YOU CANNOT DO BOTH. At least, not in the Wizard.
- You can select colors by using a pre set combination provided by the wizard
- Or you can choose your own for each element.
- Or you can leave things the way they are. There's nothing wrong with that. :-)
9) Finally, you may change the horizontal rule style from the current straight solid lines to something a bit more flashy.
Note: Numbers 5 - 9 are STRICTLY
OPTIONAL. Just so you know.
If you are satisfied with your web page, then you now see what it will look like. Press the Build button. If you like it, then go to the File menu and choose Save as... Name your page after your last name, and save it to disk. That's all you have to do!
If you do not like the way your page looks, hit the Back button and you will return to the Wizard where you can change things. You can keep going back and forth until you are satisfied.
Or if you feel that you REALLY screwed up, feel free to hit the Start Over button. It will start you from the very beginning, erasing anything you have done. (Don't feel bad if your page doesn't look the way you want it to. You can change it later using Composer.)
