Bookmarks

You can bookmark files in Netscape for quick and easy reference. Once you construct your bookmark list, you will want to save it to your H-drive so you can use it during subsequent computer sessions.
 

Adding Bookmarks to Your Bookmarks File
  1. Navigate to the site you wish to add to your bookmarks file.
  2. Click on the "bookmark" button. This opens the bookmarks window.
  3. Select the "add bookmark" option. This saves the file URL directly into the bookmarks list.
  4. You can verify that this bookmark has been added to your list by clicking on the "bookmark" button. The bookmarked site should now appear in the list at the bottom of the bookmark window.
Navigating the Internet Using Your Bookmarks

To open a previously bookmarked site

  1. Click on the "bookmark" button. A window will appear. Toward the bottom of this window is a list of the file locations stored as bookmarks.
  2. Click on the bookmark you wish to surf to. Netscape will now take you to this site.
Opening Your Bookmarks File

When starting out a session with navigator, you will probably want to refer to the sites you have previously bookmarked. You will only need to open your file once per session.

  1. To open your personal bookmarks file click on the "Bookmarks" button. This opens a bookmarks window.
  2. select "edit bookmarks." By clicking on that button
  3. In the "edit bookmarks" window, pull down the file menu and select "open bookmarks file"
  4. a . Open the bookmarks file on the H Drive (PCs) by clicking on the look in: field and selecting your H drive., then click on the "open" button.
  1. Open the bookmarks file in macfiles (Macs), by clicking on the desktop button and clicking on macfiles and then clicking the "open" button.
Saving Your Bookmarks File

Use this with caution. Make sure you are saving your bookmarks file or else you may wind up replacing your bookmarks with the wrong set of bookmarks, i.e., make sure your bookmarks file is already open before you save changes to it.

  1. To save your bookmarks file click on the "Bookmarks" button. This opens a bookmarks window.
  2. select "edit bookmarks." By clicking on that button
  3. In the "edit bookmarks" window, pull down the file menu and select "Save as..."
  4. a. Save the bookmarks file on the H Drive (PCs) by clicking on the save in: field and selecting your H drive, then click on the "save" button.
