Computer simulations illustrate real world problems focusing on major chemical concepts, and allow students to manipulate variables to measure their effects on the systems. Simulated data can be analyzed graphically or with spreadsheets used by the program. Operating the program functions is as simple as pointing and clicking on easily recognizable icons. The simulations are suitable for self-guided tutorials or as a focus of classroom discussions. A sampler disk on the "States of Matter" can be obtained from Prentice Hall for preview and classroom use by calling a representative at 1-800-848-9500. The preview package also comes with a laservideodisc, which includes animations of the 3 states of matter and video clips of hot air ballooning to make chemical concepts more relevant. This software package is available in both MAC or Windows format, and the complete set requires 4MB of RAM.
