Procedure for Preparing pH solutions

Use a pH meter to determine the pH of the filtered sea water to be used for the development of the embryos. Your initial volume should be about 1.0-1.2L of the sea water. To insure homogeneity of hydrogen ions, a magnetic stir plate with stir bar was used. In a 1.5L beaker add 1.0 M HCl gradually (with a pipette) to lower the pH to the desired increments (7.4, 7.2, 7.0.....3.6, 3.4). You will fill twenty 60ml bottles with each pH level.
