Data Sample 1: Radicle
vs Nonradicle
The following experimental data was obtained using Great Northern Beans
which were about 87 hsi. (hsi is an abbreviation for hours since imbition.)
The three graphs represent the whole bean, the radicle alone and the remaining
seed structures without the radicle. The respiration rates have been
corrected for mass differences and are listed below the graph with a sample
data table. Some of the data points were excluded for the sake of
brevity.
The relative rate of respiration of the whole bean is
0.932 mm of Hg/sec/Kg.
The relative rate of respiration of the radicle alone
is 2.32 mm of Hg/sec/Kg.
The relative rate of respiration of the remaining seed
structures is 0.622 mm of Hg/sec/Kg.
