A Plague of Frogs--Study Questions to accompany the book.

To the Teacher:  The following questions are designed to assist students in their understanding of this book.  They can be used as a whole guide to each chapter, or specific topics can be highlighted by selecting individual questions.  You may find questions that duplicate material but are worded in a different way.  These are intended to offer a different viewpoint on subjects.

INTRODUCTION

  1. For what two purposes are frogs designed?
  2. What phenomenon concerning frogs have ecologists and other scientists noticed over recent years?
  3. List three possible explanations mentioned for the phenomenon mentioned in question 2.
  4. Give at least three reasons why frogs might be affected by changes in the environment.
  5. What is a "sentinel species"?
  6. How does the author describe biology?  Do you agree or disagree with this description?  Why?
  7. Go through the introduction and list all the examples of similes (comparisons of things using the words like or as) you can find.  Be sure to give the whole simile, as "My love is like a red, red rose".
