Frog Song

Sometimes people use art or music to describe incidents like the ones we are reading about in A Plague of Frogs.  The song lyrics that follow are a good example of this.  These lyrics came from "The Froggy Page", an Internet web site created and managed by Sandra Loosemore.  You will be looking at this song and eventually creating something like it in this activity.  First, listen as the lyrics are read aloud, and follow along with your copy.  Then answer the following questions about the lyrics.

(Teacher's note:  You can read this aloud yourself or record someone else doing so.  It is probably possible to get a recording of the original song, but I haven't managed that yet.  However, the lyrics stand alone very effectively.  Also the note about the incident that inspired the song is printed at the bottom of the page so that you don't need to include it in the students' worksheet unless you wish to.)

  • What type of incident do you think this song might refer to?
  • Where did the incident take place?
