I grew up in Massachusetts and New Jersey with my nose in a book or running around in the woods.  I haven't changed much.  I studied wildlife biology in school: Cook College, Rutgers University, and David Ehrenfeld, who has an essay in Scientists on Biodiversity, was my favorite professor.

I wanted to live in a more rural environment than New Jersey, overshot Massachusetts and lived in Maine for several years.  I substituted and decided I enjoyed teaching, so took enough courses to get a job.  I have taught science at the same school in New Hampshire for 16 years.  I just finished my Master's degree in education last summer.

I live with my sister and my husband, and every other weekend his two lovely daughters.  We also live with a bunch of cats, one dog, two horses (but they are not in the house), and a couple of aquariums.  I enjoy exploring through hiking, snorkeling, Pokeboating and reading.  My best friend is also a teacher and years ago (in a more fit age) we hiked all the 4,000 footer in New Hampshire.  I love the view from mountaintops.

I get up early (5:30-6ish) and go to bed early (by 10pm).  I really don't like air conditioners and would rather sleep with the window open.  (I grew up in New Jersey, yes, I know how hot and humid it can be.)  I like peace and quiet.  I will gladly get all my morning stuff together the night before so that I can slip out quietly and take a long walk or bike ride.  But I'd really appreciate rooming with someone who can be quiet in the evening.  I don't smoke and assume that no one will be allowed to smoke in the room.
