Born in 1946 and spent most of my early life in
South Alabama (except for three years in France-Dad in army). In the
11th grade I entered Saint Andrews School, Sewanee, TN. Graduated 1964;
had a short stay at Auburn and then spent four years in the Air Force as
a photo interpreter-two in Japan during Vietnam; got my BS in Forestry from UT
Knoxville and an MS from NAU; Worked seven years as a forester with TVA and
three with USFS in Atlanta; Returned to UT and got my Ph.D. in Exercise
Physiology; Taught one year at UAB; Was a certified addictions counselor with
VA hospital Birmingham for four years. I then returned to UT again for
my teaching certificate. I've taught high school for five years at
Clinton, TN.
From 1984-87 I was strength and conditioning coach for the NCAA champion Lady Vols. During the past four years I've been to Haiti twice working on a school construction project. I've been married twice with no children. Ellen and I have been married 11 years. Both her sons were grown when we met. We have two grandchildren which I claim as mine. She is a clinical social worker in private practice and a runner. I love learning.... |
