I attended high school and college in Ohio.  Since my marriae in 1965, I've lived and taught in public, private, and DOD schools in South Carolina, Ohio, Okinawa, Texas, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and Colorado.  I've taught middle school science and remedial math, as well as science, health, and consumer education in an alternative high school.  For the last 15 years, at Bishop McNamara High School in Maryland, my teaching assignments have included physical science, biology, anatomy, environmental science, and genetics.  For at least 10 years I've been the science department chair (because no one else is gullible enough to take over the job) and co-coordinator of the school science fair.  This year, I also accepted chairmanship of the computer and business departments.  Mistake!  That was too many hats for one head; I'm giving that responsibility back.

My husband, Dave, and I have two adult daughters.  Karin teaches third grade in Maryland; Mari is a captain in the Air Force, and just rotated from two years in Japan to her current assignment in Colorado.  While the girls were growing up, we camped frequently, and I did a lot of sewing and other needlework, as well as some cake decorating.  For 11 years, I was a Girl Scout leader, and for several years I volunteered as a first aid instructor for the Red Cross.  Now, most of our nature-watching is done from the kitchen window or deck-but we see squirrels, raccoons, possums, deer, a groundhog, and many bird species.  In my "spare" time, I read and occasionally embroider.  Dave is threatening retirement in three to five years; I'm preparing by working hard to learn how to sit and do nothing at all from time to time.  So far, I've had little success, as shown by my presence in Lawrenceville this summer!
