WEEK THREE - EPIDEMIC WITH THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION

July 12 - 17
We worked on inquiry projects and web pages.  Groups are completing inquiry projects so that there will be time for other work. This is ours.

On Wednesday, we visited AMNH's "Epidemic" exhibit in New York. Dr. Varuni Kulasekera discussed the exhibit and some aspects of genetic and molecular diversity.  Consultants from CDC(Center for Disease Control and Prevention) in  Atlanta, Georgia accompanied us.
On Thursday and Friday, CDC consultants demonstrated ways for utilizing the scientific method in teaching biology using the "Disease Detectives" case studies.
Saturday, Dr. Bruce Alberts from the NAS answered questions from the group.
