Biography:
Hi.  My name  is Colleen McMillin.  I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA then finished up high school in Alabama.
I attended Duquesne University and graduated as the outstanding secondary education major.   Over the past year, I taught this past year in Roanoke Rapids, NC and will be moving to Virginia this year.  I have been teaching both biology and advanced biology.  The most important thing to me is making science fun for my students.  I am hoping to learn a lot of things during these institutes to take back to my students.  I think a true teacher is the one who is a constant learner.

To my colleagues in Prince Edward County:

I have had an insightful time so far.  We have been sharing ideas with other teachers.  I have so many great ideas to share with you when I get back.  I am very excited about getting my students outside this year to study the biodiversity of the environment.  We have the possibility of doing some joint studies through the American Museum of Natural History.  This program would enable us to compare our results to those with other classes around the country.  I feel that this would be an exciting opportunity to get involved in.  We may be able to work this into the middle school curriculum or the high school curriculum.  If you already have a program of field study in place please inform me.
