A Field Trip to Mercer Lake
July 6, 1999

The group took a trip to examine the plankton community of Mercer Lake.

Top center structure is a Ceratium spThe left hand of center is a species if Asterionella, which is a freshwater diatom, with the cells making up the spokes 
of the wheel.

To the far right of center is a grouping of Fragilaria, a type of freshwater diatom . The triangular arrangement of algae cells in the center is Pediastrum.
