Mercer Lake Investigation


  • This net is thrown into the water to collect for live specimen in thewater
  • The net has holes that are only 10 micrometers big, so it retains much of the microorganisms in the water




A test tube was used to scoop some pond sample from the net. Then capillary tubes were filled with pond samples

The samples in the capillary tubes were then observed under field microscopes... and what did we find??


Biodiversity in pond water



Here we see a great diversity of living organisms that can be found in a lake. There are many diatoms and silicates as shown in this slide.
