Digestive System Analogies -
A Group Activity
Michael O'Hare
1991 Woodrow Wilson Biology Institute
Objective:
This exercise can be used as a quick group activity shen studying the human digestive system in order for the students to relate common kitchen items to the function of specific digestive organs.
Procedure:
In the left column you will see a list of some of the major organs of the digestive system. As a group, decide on which item or appliance that you would find in a kitchen would be the most analogous to the organ named. In the column marked Rationale, give the reasons your group chose this particular item. The class as a whole will then share the choices from each group.
