Aquatic samples were taken from sites within Island State Park at Seaside, New Jersey. Island Beach State Park is a narrow island approximately 9-10 miles long. Barnegat Bay borders the west side of the island. Approximately 1 Liter of aquatic samples were taken, dissolved oxygen (YSI), SRP (Suspended reactive phosphorus), nitrate, pH and temperature values were recorded (HACH DR 850 Colorimeter). Samples were taken back to The Lawrenceville School Lab for filtering, isolation of microbial DNA and sequencing procedures.
