Gregory Borman

Presently I am a science staff developer for District 75 (Citywide Special Education) in the NYC Board of Education.  I am working with K-12 special education teachers to implement NSF-validated, inquiry-based science curricula into their classrooms. We believe that science is for all students, and therefore all students should be provided with many opportunities to explore and participate in scientific investigations.

Previously I was a founding staff member of East Side Community High School in Manhattan, a 7-12 school founded on the principles of the Coalition of Essential Schools. I have taught biology, physics, environmental science, and a senior elective called "Biotechnology and Human Genetics."

I have been fortunate to participate in a number of professional development programs including SummerMath for Teachers at Mt. Holyoke College, Columbia University Summer Fellowship for Science Teachers, and the Hunter College Summer Program in Biotechnology. All of these experiences, as well as the Woodrow Wilson Institute, have helped me to become a better, and more enthusiastic teacher of science.
